This WebQuest is designed for students in NSW Stage 5.  It is linked with Topic 7 of the History Syllabus for Years 7-10.

The WebQuest explores the controversial political issue as to whether Australia should become a republic with a republican Head of State, or whether it should remain a constitutional monarchy.  Students work in teams to investigate the different perspectives on this issue, and ultimately develop their own position paper on the subject.

The overall aim of this WebQuest is for the students to continue acquainting themselves with the ongoing debate about the institutions of Australian democracy, and to enhance their ability to participate in them as an informed citizen.
