China - a majstic country full of wonder and awe. It is also the most populous country in the world. Hit by a powerful earthquake early in 2008 the country is still trying to recover from the devastating impact.

Australia provided over $2 milllion in aid to China following the earthquake. Is it enough? Why is it important for Australia to be giving aid and assistance to its neighbour in the Asia Pacific region?

There is poverty in Australia. Should the government be spending this money on its own people?

It is up to you and you team to consider these questions and more and respond to a request for help from the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Consider the problem from a variety of perspectives and decide on your response based upon your research, readings and investigations.

Good luck!
